Still the king.

Marc Marquez, known as the King of COTA for his total dominance of the track, roared Sunday to his sixth victory in as many tries in the MotoGP race at Circuit of the Americas.

The 25-year-old Spaniard, on his No. 93 Repsol Honda, started fourth but already had overtaken Andrea Iannone for the lead late in the first lap.

Marquez, the defending series champion, gradually pulled away from there in the 20-lap Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas.

Maverick Vinales, who started on the pole, finished second on the No. 25 Movistar Yamaha.

Andre Iannone, who showed excellent speed all weekend on the No. 29 Suzuki Ecstar, completed the podium.

Marquez, a four-time world champ in motorcycle’s premier series, provisionally won the pole Saturday but was assessed a three-grid-spot penalty for impeding the progress of Vinales.

Turns out it made little difference.

Britain’s Cal Crutchlow, who entered the day with the series lead after 2 of 19 races, crashed on the eighth lap in turn 20 while battling for fifth place.
