Two-time Grammy winner The Weeknd will perform at Circuit of the Americas after the Formula One U.S. Grand Prix on Sunday, Oct. 23.

In addition to the racing, it will be quite a musical weekend at COTA because Taylor Swift is doing a concert at COTA on F1 qualification day, Saturday, Oct. 22.

The Weeknd is the stage name for 26-year-old Canadian-born singer, songwriter and producer Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, whose music is alternative R&B with a mix of rock and hip hop.

Now a multi-platinum seller, The Weeknd first rose to prominence in 2011 with three independent online releases and a nice push from the rapper Drake.

Upon release of “House of Balloons”, “Thursday” and “Echoes of Silence”, a wide range of music media began touting the Scarborough, Ontario, native of Ethiopian descent.

The Weeknd made his move from underground internet sensation to international pop star last year with the critcally acclaimed album “Beauty Behind The Madness.”

He took the act on the road and did The Madness 2016 Fall Tour in 22 cities across North America, selling out most of them before the first date was announced.

“Beauty Behind The Madness” is no certified double platinum and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200.

Swift is a 10-time Grammy winner. She will perform on COTA’s Super Stage late Saturday afternoon after qualifying and other support racing ends.

Last year Circuit of the Americas had an F1 post-race concert by Elton John.

This will be the fifth year for the U.S. Grand Prix at the sprawling complex in Southeast Austin, the only purpose-built F1 track in the United States.

Sunday-only general admission passes are available for $99. Three-day passes — which include access to the Taylor Swift and The Weeknd concerts — begin at $150. Three-day passes will increase to $165 on Sept. 1.

The Friday-Sunday weekend also includes the Masters Historic Racing Series and Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.

COTA officials say the majority of the Main Grandstand has sold out. Tickets can be purchased online at circuitoftheamericas.com or by phone at 512.301.6600 ext. 1. To speak to a COTA representative, call 512-536-1453. Hotel rooms also can be booked now at http://www.circuitoftheamericas.com/bookaroom.
